WANTING TO INSPIRE COMMUNITIES IN MEDAN CITY, YEC MOTIVATES PEOPLE TO DO BUSINESS
04 December 2018
TRIBUN-MEDAN.COM, MEDAN - Young Entrepreneurs Council (YEC) held a Business Coffee with the theme CEO Success Story by the President Director of PT Mahkota Group, Usli Sarsi to share knowledge, inspiration and motivation.
Chairman of the Ngopi Bisnis Committee, Andro Hartanto, said that the event was held by YEC for the second time to motivate people to do business.
“So far there is no community in Medan that really inspires people to do business, so we make this event to motivate people to do business. Through this event we also meet businessmen and prospective businessmen so that they have wider networking,” said Andro at Warung Kopi Arjuna, CBD Polonia Medan, Saturday (1/12/2018).
He said the event was attended by approximately 40 participants from various circles including students, business people, and banks.
“I hope the people of Medan City are more open to doing business, so not only consumptive but also productive. Join YLC, YLC is a community of entrepreneurs in Medan, here our network is getting wider. We have the motto work hard, stay humble” said Andro.
The same thing was also expressed, Secretary of the North Sumatra Chinese Indonesian Association (INTI), Tomi Wistan, who said that this YIC activity was a good activity to discuss business and build networking.
“The more members who join YIC, it is hoped that it will become a force for young entrepreneurs to build netwoking. With the increasing number of YIC members, it can improve the North Sumatra economy and expand business connections,” said Tomi.
He added that information is now developing faster so that one's absorption is also faster. “What is discussed in this talk show is the experience of a successful speaker, so we are sure that the participants can grow into big entrepreneurs,” said Tomi.
On the same occasion, President Director of PT Mahkota Group, Usli Sarsi said that the company's rationale for going public must be pioneered with a hard struggle. From the survey, only 10 percent of companies survive through the second and third generations.
“We see many companies going bankrupt. The first generation built the company with family, close friends. Most of the time today, the first generation builds, the second generation enjoys, the third destroys and the fourth generation laments,” said Usli.
He said that currently, public companies have many rules that have been determined by the government in detail and supervised by various parties, both from the OJK (Financial Services Authority), consultants, and others.
“The distribution of dividends is clearly regulated in public companies. Public companies are supervised by many parties. There are profits used for the welfare of stakeholders, shareholders. Being a public company requires hard work, transparency, accountability, innovation and not to miss technology,” he explained.
According to Usli, there are three keys to success: spirit, ethics and productivity. These three dimensions must be balanced so that the company can survive.
“In terms of spirit, we must have enthusiasm, have a good work ethic, leadership must also be good. From the ethical dimension, we must be honest, transparent, our company has a good vision for the welfare of many people. Then the productivity dimension, we must be a person with character and these three things must be balanced,” he said.
He explained that Indonesia has two seasons, which makes Indonesia superior to other countries in the field of plantations and agriculture, especially palm oil as the prima donna.
“The understanding to become an investor in developed countries is 20 to 30 percent, while in Indonesia only 0.5 percent of the Indonesian population wants to become an investor. When people have money, they usually want to try a business, but it usually closes. It is better if you have money, invest it in stocks, said Usli.
