AN ICON OF NORTH SUMATRA - A BUILDING IN THE SHAPE OF AN OIL PALM TREE IS VERY FITTING
16 December 2019
Medan, (Analisa). The plan of the North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprovsu) to build a building in the form of oil palm that will be used as a Sport Center as well as a North Sumatra icon is very appropriate.
“It is very appropriate that the icon of North Sumatra is palm oil,” said President Director of PT Mahkota Group, Usli Sarsi recently.
When viewed from the results of plantations such as rubber, chocolate, oil palm are the most in North Sumatra. Even if compared to other regions on the island of Sumatra, North Sumatra Province may still be the largest.
In addition, said Usli, North Sumatra's fertile land is very suitable for planting oil palm. Don't be surprised if the quality of the palm fruit produced in North Sumatra is still the best, as well as the production results.
The results of oil palm plantations have provided employment and community welfare, especially in North Sumatra. If you look at it from upstream to downstream, it opens up many jobs.
Study Center
Besides having the icon of the palm oil head, North Sumatra is also very appropriate to be the center of palm oil studies. Besides having a very large plantation, there are also many Palm Oil Processing (PKS) factories in North Sumatra.
“We have prepared Mahkota Group to become a study center on palm oil,” he said.
According to him, North Sumatra Province, especially in Medan City, is very appropriate to become a center for Palm Oil studies. The reason is that North Sumatra is the province with the largest population on the island of Sumatra. In addition, there are many universities and scientists in North Sumatra.
North Sumatra must be the center of palm oil study in Indonesia. It is hoped that from North Sumatra, oil palm plantations will continue to develop, not only in North Sumatra, but also in other provinces. To realize North Sumatra as the center of palm oil study, government support is needed.
“I am sure that business actors, especially those engaged in the palm oil sector, are very supportive of North Sumatra's iconic palm oil as well as a center of study,” he explained. (rin)
