Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B Pandjaitan revealed that the government will conduct an audit of all companies in the palm oil plantation industry.

Responding to this, Deputy Chairman of the North Sumatra Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (Apindosu) who is also the President Director of PT Mahkota Group Tbk Usli Sarsi told Tribun Online via cellular telephone, Sunday (29/5) said it was the government's authority and in line with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 8 of 2018 concerning the Palm Oil Moratorium.

In collecting data, Usli continued, the government can do it accurately. If this is done, he believes the palm oil industry in the country will get better.

Usli did not deny that so far the data on palm oil in the country is still confusing, such as data on the area of oil palm plantations, upstream production, downstream production and others. Thus, palm oil governance and trade will be better and will help the government in formulating policies regarding the palm oil sector and its derivatives.

“With accurate data, it is very helpful for the government in making policy decisions. At least we know exactly how much production both upstream and downstream and how much domestic consumption,” he explained.

Usli hopes that the data collection carried out by the government can be accessed by the public so that there are no more allegations directed at the palm oil industry.

This is very important, said Usli, considering that the palm oil industry is a future industry that can provide welfare for all parties, a sustainable and green industry. So far, there are still negative accusations directed at the palm oil industry, not only by people abroad but also domestically. ​

“We from Apindosu will support every government policy for the progress and goodness of the palm oil industry,” he said.
