DANCE MTU ACHIEVES TWO COMPETITION CHAMPIONS
03 April 2023
The Si Gale-gale offering dance performed by the Dance Mahkota Tricom Unggul Student Activity Unit (UKM Dance MTU) consisting of Rhiana Handini, Suci Amalia, Aminatu Zahra, Ummu Nadra (dancer), Rinaldi (Si Gale-gale/mangale statue), Toib Saputra (shaman), Samuel (statue player) won second place at the “Traditional Dance Competition” event held by the State Islamic University (UIN) North Sumatra and Best Performance 1 Traditional Creation Dance held by JIV Enterprise.
The Rector of MTU University, Dr. Dompak Pasaribu S.E., M.Si., CPA, CACP, said that MTU University is committed to fostering students and providing space for creativity. Apart from Dance MTU UKM, MTU University also has several UKM that we encourage to be creative.
“I am proud that MTU Dance UKM has a passion for preserving traditional culture, such as the story of Si Gale-gale, in my opinion, it is still rare for people to raise it in the form of dance,” said Dompak recently.
He said winning is not the main goal. By participating, they can show their performance. For example, we have Young Investor UKM. Through this Young Investor UKM, we want to make MTU students literate or understand about investment, not to enter fraudulent investments because they don't know. In addition to understanding investment, MTU students also have good public speaking skills in presenting investments. That way in addition to investment literacy we also encourage the ability to communicate well.
“In the near future we will invite a national television reporter to improve students' public speaking skills,” he said.
The supervisor of MTU Dance UKM Deby Siska Oktavia Pasaribu S.E., M.Ak., congratulated the success of MTU Dance UKM in bringing the trophy.
“I am very proud of MTU dance UKM. All the hard work of practicing continuously paid off by getting the title of champion. Hopefully this victory trophy can be an encouragement for the children to take part in the next competition. For MTU Dance UKM children, continue to be creative and become the pride of MTU university,” he said.
