MAHKOTA TRICOM UNGGUL UNIVERSITY (MTU) SUPPORT DIGITAL LITERACY EDUCATION

Since the introduction of industrial revolution 1.0 in the 18th century, the change to industrial revolution 2.0 has been slow. It was only in the 20th century that there was a change to the industrial revolution 2.0. But at the end of the 20th century there was a change to the industrial revolution 3.0 and the change occurred again in the 21st century into the industrial revolution 4.0.
Changes in the fast-moving industrial revolution, said the Rector of Mahkota Tricom Unggul University (MTU), Prof. Ir H. Zulkarnain Lubis M.S, Ph.D, must be taken seriously. Digital devices have now been used by almost all lines ranging from children to adults.
“When the world is faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, people's activities cannot be separated from the use of digital devices,” said Zulkarnain.
Therefore, he added, the six study programs owned by MTU University, namely Management, Information Systems, Information Technology, Digital Business, Agribusiness and Accounting will refer to the use of digital so that after graduating students are able to keep up with the changes in the industrial revolution that continue to experience development.
The presence of digital technology not only makes it easier for people to do activities, but also opens up new opportunities to create jobs that have been done conventionally. In the past, people had to go to a store or shopping center to get the goods they needed. But now it is enough to open the application, the items needed can be ordered and directly delivered to the destination.
“There will be many new business opportunities that arise with technological advances,” he said.
Creating new opportunities and being able to work with technological advances are graduates of MTU University. The Digital Business Study Program at MTU University is different from other universities in North Sumatra. Currently, there are not many universities that have Digital Business study programs. For North Sumatra, private universities that have Digital Business study programs are only at MTU University.
One of the efforts made by MTU University is by providing digital literacy education to schools so that students know what job opportunities are needed.
