29 January 2024
Three mottos were coined by Raden Mas Suwardi Suryaningrat or known as Ki Hajar Dewantara for education. First, Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha, which means in front of giving an example. Second, Ing Madya Mangun Karsa, which means in the middle of giving inspiration, and third, Tut Wuri Handayani, which means behind giving encouragement. From the motto coined by Ki Hajar Dewantara, he became the father of Indonesian education where the third point of the motto coined by Tut Wuri Handayani became the motto of education in Indonesia.
“If we understand the motto coined by Ki Hajar Dewantara, it reminds us that in the end a good education or institution must transform the education ecosystem through example and that will provide changes to an institution,” said Director of the Institute for Education of Human Values (LPNK) from Bali Putu Suwitra when giving a public lecture with the theme ‘Successful Human Velue’ at Mahkota Tricom Unggul University (MTU) in the Grand Jati Junction Medan building, Saturday (27/1).
The example that a person has will become an example. Power will not be able to change someone if he himself does not have the energy to change himself first.
So the most important thing is that motivation comes from ourselves, not others. As students, we must continue to motivate ourselves to be connected to the goals we achieve. Therefore, all the intentions that we want must be managed and maintained properly so that they are achieved. Because the intention is a noble ideal and believes God will help until our goals are achieved.
“Make your dreams as high as the sky because dreams are the right of all people. To make great ideals is not enough with rights alone but the most important thing is how the consequences of a great ideal run to organize our every thought, our every word, our every step is connected to the ideal,” he explained.
When a goal is achieved, it doesn't mean it's over, but it must be set up as a basis for continuing that goal. That is very important considering our bodies are getting older, our energy is getting weaker. Therefore, the ideals that we have achieved must be considered how to sustain and continue with the next generation. That way it will bring happiness.
Everyone has a different perspective on the word success. Some say that success is when you have a lot of wealth. There are also those who say that success is when you have a good career and so on. But the truth is that success is when what is achieved gives happiness to both oneself and others.
So in the end, education is how to humanize people. The success we achieve not only gives happiness to ourselves but also to others.
Achieving Success
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Mahkota Tricom Foundation, Usli Sarsi, before opening the public lecture said that in achieving success it is necessary to have an intelligent quotient, namely the intelligence of the mind. Without the intelligence of the mind it is difficult to achieve success.
If you only rely on the intelligence of the mind not supported by emotional quotient, it will be difficult to achieve success. In achieving the goal of achieving success will face many problems. Therefore, it is necessary to be able to manage the emotions of oneself and others.
Intelligence of mind, emotional intelligence does not guarantee success. It takes spiritual quotient in order to understand about life such as personal values, compassion and ethics. Finally, adversity quotient is the ability to deal with difficult problems and find solutions.
Meanwhile, the Rector of MTU University, Dr. Dompak Pasaribu, SE, M.Si, CPA, CACP, expressed his great joy at the presence of the Director of the Institute for Human Values Education, Putu Suwitra, who has provided motivation and enthusiasm for students in achieving success. With the public lecture given, the success achieved by MTU students not only gives happiness to themselves but also to others.
