MTU UNIVERSITY HOLDS MENTAL HEALTH SEMINAR

24 June 2024

Mahkota Tricom Unggul University (MTU) held a seminar “Generation Z: Mental Health” by presenting resource persons activists of the Indonesian Sathya Sai Education Institute (LPSSI) Mrs. Wen and Chairperson of the Mahkota Tricom Education Foundation Usli Sarsi at the MTU University Campus, Grand Jati Junction building, Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan No. 3A Medan, Friday (6/21).

Chairman of Mahkota Tricom Education Foundation, Usli Sarsi reminded that education emphasizes to improve character education rather than science. According to him, 80 percent of a person's success is determined by soft skills rather than hard skills.

Hard skills are a person's ability to do a good job. With artificial intelligence (AI) many jobs can be completed. But soft skills are how a person can develop in the workplace with the ability to interact positively with others until now there is no technology that replaces it.

“There are already many jobs that technology can do, but how to shape someone's mentality as strong as steel and with a good personality there is no technology that can do it,” said Usli.

According to him, education must be emphasized more on good values so that students have ethical character. “I ask MTU University to have one vision, namely creating individuals who have good character,” he said.

Currently there is a moral crisis. Many deviant behaviors are carried out such as drug abuse, brawls, motorcycle gangs, online gambling and so on.

The second speaker, Mrs. Wen, shared her experience of how she mentored all prisoners serving prison sentences in Taiwan.

Her interest in serving to provide assistance to prisoners in Taiwan felt called and received support from the Taiwanese government.

Most prisoners in Taiwan are in trouble with the law because of mental problems. They commit acts such as murder because they are unable to control their emotions.

“The prisoners in Taiwan are caught in drug and murder cases,” he said.

With his presence, he provides assistance to enlighten and do positive things.

After being released from prison they no longer commit crimes and provide benefits to society.

He said the key to success in mentoring is to do it lovingly so that their hearts are touched.

The Rector of Mahkota Tricom Unggul University (MTU), Dr. Dompak Pasaribu, SE, M.Si, CPA, CACP welcomed the seminar by presenting resource persons from Taiwan and in the near future MTU University will hold an international seminar presenting resource persons from Thailand and Vietnam.
